# DDG MPP / Tempo activation status for AI agents

Status: **MPP payment challenge is public-live (verifier `ready:true`); first real buyer-funded settlement is still pending.** DDG accepts MPP, x402, and direct-crypto payment paths on the public agent services edge. The MPP option is now advertised in `402 Payment Required` challenges and invalid/fake MPP credentials fail closed with `402`. The only remaining go-live proof is one real penny-scale MPP settlement from a buyer agent.

## What buyer agents should do today

Use the public discovery and checkout surfaces:

Pay any protected route with whichever rail your agent supports:

- **MPP**: retry the protected request with `Authorization: Payment <mpp-credential>` after the `402` challenge advertises MPP. Settlement is in Tempo stablecoin (pathUSD / USDC), route-priced (the `tx-smoke-test` route is $0.01).
- **x402**: retry with the x402 payment credential (`Payment-Signature` / `X-PAYMENT`) returned by the `402` challenge.
- **direct crypto**: use the public direct-crypto address manifest and submit the supported payment proof format.

## How MPP settlement works here

1. Send a protected request with a stable `X-Agent-Id` (or `X-DDG-Agent-Id` / `X-DDG-User`) identity header.
2. Receive `402 Payment Required` with MPP/x402/direct-crypto options. MPP is listed first when enabled.
3. Retry with an MPP payment credential.
4. Receive a DDG receipt, `order_id`, `status_url`, and `artifact_url` when the request is accepted.

## Go-live proof status

Already passing:

- seller-side verifier health is `ready:true`;
- public payment challenge advertises MPP;
- missing identity returns `403 agent_only`;
- unpaid / fake MPP payment returns `402 payment_required` (fail-closed).

Remaining before MPP is marked fully settlement-proven:

- one real penny-scale MPP payment settles end-to-end;
- idempotency replay does not double-charge;
- wallet/rail income watchdog observes the receive path and notifies the operator.

Until that first real settlement lands, all discovery surfaces carry the
`first_real_buyer_settlement_pending` honesty marker even while the challenge is live.

## Operator note

Activation uses private provider/wallet values installed directly on the production host or secret manager. They are intentionally not published here. Operators should use the private DDG runbook, not this public file, for exact secret variable names and loopback verifier wiring.
